Somma is one of the most exciting Italian fine dining restaurant I tried recently.
Chef Mirko Febbrile is doing something very interesting. It is Italian cuisine but not traditional style only. There is strong personality and modern approach.
Many dishes use very high quality ingredients and presentation is beautiful but not over complicated. Flavor is clear and powerful.
One dish using seafood was especially impressive. Very delicate but also deep umami.
Service was also excellent. Staff explain every dish with passion and knowledge.
Restaurant interior is elegant but comfortable. Not too formal atmosphere.
Overall Somma is very strong restaurant and I think it will become even more famous soon.

I recently had the 6-course winter menu and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Every dish was rich in flavour and beautifully balanced, with thoughtful ingredients that really highlighted the season. You can tell a lot of care went into selecting and pairing each component.

The welcome snack — a potato soup — was especially memorable. It was refreshing yet full of taste, setting the tone perfectly for the rest of the meal. Each course that followed was well-paced and consistently impressive.

We also added the signature pasta, and it was absolutely worth it. The pasta was cooked perfectly and packed with flavour — definitely a standout addition.

On top of the wonderful food, the service and host team were great and very attentive throughout the evening. They made us feel welcomed and well taken care of, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Already looking forward to the next season menu.

A special experience. It was very fun and not stifling space since you can wear whatever.. we even enjoyed lamb with our hands. Enjoyed our meal at Somma thoroughly, it was not heavy as you would imagine Italian food; I liked that it was portioned perfectly. Cheese experience was fun, but somehow it felt rushed; yet still worth a try!
Chef Mirko and his food is approachable, down to earth, and promises a good time!
If I had to pick a best dish it was the lobster and lamb.

(Typed a long review but it got removed before publishing so here are a few main points)

Celebrated my husband’s birthday here recently and we loved it!

Like others have said, dining here is very refreshing and not stifling, unlike other fine dining establishments.

The team’s service was great, very warm yet professional. Appreciated their small personal touches too.

The dining experience was quiet and intimate, warm and homely, yet exciting as well. Unique experience which allowed us to focus on the food and experience instead of unnecessary distractions.

Food was great – not overcomplicated and not repetitive of other restaurants. It was very good.

Chef Mirko is so genuine and passionate about his craft, he is truly an inspiration especially in a world where it’s getting harder to thrive on these things.

      Would return again!

Somma’s food was one of the most technically amazing I had ever experienced. many dishes were pretty out of this world and so different from other fine dining restaurants I’ve ever tried in Singapore.

      some highlights of the meal:

olive oil – yeast – miso water emulsion with radicchio: the paper-thin slice of radicchio had the depth and meatiness of a well-seared steak, yet also the sweetness of the vegetable comes after. my mind was blown.

blue lobster – razor clams – koji porridge: each morsel packed brininess of seafood, balanced with citrusy notes, and the seafood were so tender. extremely satisfying.

spaghettone – carrot – sea whelk: 20kg of carrots reduced to 1kg of a caramel-like pasta sauce. it had incredible depth and intensity, perhaps too strong for the accompanying dish of sea whelk, shrimp broth and caviar.

lamb ribs: lamb had a crispy skin (how?) and was accompanied by a herbaceous, acidic vegetable medley to balance the dish, although the lamb wasn’t gamey at all. the combination of coriander and lamb was nostalgic for me, as it instantly reminded me of chinese herbal mutton soup! the portion of lamb was generous and so rich, but it was so yummy i could definitely finish a few more pieces.

We opted for the cheese experience which included a beverage pairing, it was very fun to try the cheeses which were further refined l in-house before ultimately being served to guests.

overall service was warm and friendly (although explanation of dishes by some staff felt a bit scripted and memorised at times).

we went for the italian wine pairing which complemented well with the dishes. i thought it was well considered and curated (as a complete wine noob). the sommelier shared very detailed, interesting stories behind each bottle.
