I’ve been a loyal customer of this hair salon since its soft opening, which was nearly nine years ago when I was still a schoolgirl.

Every time I visit, I make sure to subscribe to the scalp treatment, which works wonders for my oily scalp that’s prone to buildup. I had the pleasure of having Mandy look after me, and she went above and beyond. Not only did she give me a soothing shoulder and head massage, but she also noticed that my arms and shoulders were stiff from my heavy music practice and exercise routine. Without me even asking, she helped knead out the knots. She was so thorough and conscientious and hardworking, ensuring that every corner of my scalp and hair was treated, that my head was never slammed down on the wash basin like some others are in the habit of doing at other salons. What a Godsend! It’s rare to find such attentive and thoughtful service, and Mandy truly made the experience a relaxing escape.

The service here is truly impeccable. There’s no hard selling or pushy sales tactics, just honest advice from professionals who clearly take pride in their work. It’s a refreshing change compared to other places that bombard you with upsell after upsell. The value here is spot on; while I won’t call it “cheap” (because these people are not like those stylists in salons underneath HDB flats), the prices are more than reasonable for the high-quality treatments you get. Note: you should probably trust your stylist when they give you advice. If you’re set on your ways, then mention it from the start, before they proceed with the treatment. Jack and his team are incredibly respectful to your choices and the photos pictured is the result of the colour scheme he chose for my mum, which is an advanced technique called “greyblending”, a new trend amongst people who wish to incorporate their natural hair color and touch up their roots to create a natural look. Bottom line: I can’t stress this enough, please be kind to your service staff, they’re humans too! If you don’t like the colour/highlight, the salon doesn’t charge high and you’re more than welcome to find another place, don’t have to be a harpy about it 🤷‍♀️

Quality: I’ve never had a reaction to any of the products used here, which is a big deal for me. I used to have frequent allergic reactions at other higher-end salons in Orchard, but that’s never been an issue here. The products are top-notch and clearly chosen with care.

Another point worth mentioning is the level of expertise from both the director, Jack, and Mandy. When I returned to Singapore this year after living in the US for the past four years, my hair and scalp were completely fried. Jack and Mandy knew right away what had been happening and tailored a treatment specifically to address my needs. They don’t just do hair—they understand it.

I’ve read some complaints from people about Jack’s “aloofness,” but honestly, if you’re local, you’d know that his mannerisms are just typical Singaporean. There’s no pretense here—just genuine professionalism.

The results speak for themselves.

P.S. I love how they don’t work against your natural hair type. I’ve had salons blow my hair straight without so much as asking me what my preference was, but Jack always makes sure to blow it a little wavy. He never uses heating tools and the waves hold on for two days! 🤩

J&J has been my go to hairdresser for a couple of years now. They have always been very reliable. It’s easy to make a booking and the services are top notch and great value. Shout out to Vin who always does an amazing job with the haircut and making me feel at home 🙂
